A good friend of mine had the G3. The thing was lighter -- cheap platic instead of wood stocks, had a scope rail of top, an aweful recoil, and an aweful painted on finish. He had the thing about 4 months before the rear plastic stock snapped in half in the middle of firing.

I don't have a cetme but want to get one. After seeing how my friend's G3 worked, I'd say stick w/ the Cetme.

I HAVE AG3 THAT I AM VERY PLEASED WITH. IT HAS THE CENTURY ARMS STAMPED STEEL RECIEVER ASOPPOSED TO THE CAST ALUMINUM, THAT I DONOT CARE FOR. IHAVE SHOT IT ON OCCASION FOR SEVERAL YEARS W/O A PROBLEM. RECENTLY AFLOOD OF G3S AND CETMES HAVE HIT THE MARKET THAT HAVE BEEN PUT TOGETHER FROM PARTS. SOME ARE OF GOOD QUALITY AND SOME ARE NOT. A FRIEND OF MINE PURCHASED A BEAUTIFUL CETME AT THE SPRING MACHINE GUN SHOOT AT KNOB CREEK KY. HE RENTED RANGE TIME AND AFTER 12 ROUNDS THE TRIGGER GROUP PRACTICLY FELL OUT. SINCE BOTH WEAPONS ARE OF HK DESIGN, IF THEY ARE PROPERLY INSPECTED FITTED AND ASSEMBLED WILL GIVE GOOD SERVICE. THE WOODEN FURNITURE ON THE CETME IS QUITE APPEALING TO ME AND I MUST CONSTANTLY REMIND MYSELF THAT I DONOT NEED ANOTHER WEAPON OF THIS CONFIGUREATION. HOWEVER IF YOU CHOOSE TO PURCHASE A G3 THAT HAS BEEN PROPERLY BUILT TO GO ALONG WITH YOUR CETME YOU WON`T BE DISAPPOINTED.

For those of You that would like to know: J&G in Prescott, Arizona are Selling the CETME for $298.50...H&K G3 for $469.95 and the FAL L1A1 for $418.50 The CETME has a Wood Forearm and Butt Stock...The others are Plastic...Can't say a thing about dependability...as I hav'nt had any experiance with any of the above.....

Thanks guys! I decided to get on the FAL bandwagon after looking into them a little more. Looks like the G3 is really no better than the Cetme (might be worse??), so I'll just stick with just one of those similar type Cetme/G3 rifles for now.
