OK what IS the difference? I was under the impression that 7.5 french was made by necking up 6.5x55 sweede-Ralph

Nothing very, very good or very, very bad lasts for very, very long.

The french round is the 7.5X54 for the MAS. It can be made from Swedish Mauser brass, which measures 6.5X55, not 7.5. Simply trim a mm off, resize, and you are ready to go with the Swedish Mauser brass. However, the Swede round cannot be used as is.

Interestingly, there IS in fact a 7.5 Swede cartridge, but it is an old revolver cartridge, not a rifle cartridge.
