Beretta AR-70 mags
Brother-in-law is considering the purchase of an Beretta AR-70 rifle but it doesn't have any magazines with it. I checked the gun site auctions but nothing is listed for AR-70 mags. Where can I find some to see what they are selling for? I don't know if they take 20rd or 30rd pre-ban mags.

I don't have any of the mags and for what they cost I won't either. I've seen the mags anywhere from just over $100 to almost $200 a piece. So if he plans on needing several he better start with a full wallet. As for the conversions to use AR mags, I haven't seen those as of late, so I can't give you a price there. 0 -
Ouch.......thanks for the great info. I had a feeling that if the mags aren't seen around much for sale that there is a good reason for it. I didn't care for the rifle that much myself
when I tell him the new, I doubt he'll care for it much either.

I saw some 30-round magazines on subguns.com recently. I think Beretta may still sell the 8-round magazines. I have never seen a M16 (I assume) magazine conversion kit. (I have a factory M16 magazine conversion kit for my Galil ARM, and I assume the AR-70 kit is similar.) I was lucky to have bought a bunch of 30-round magazines from Beretta before the ban. (They cost under $30 as I recall!) The Assault Web Bulletin Board has a for-sale board and you might find some there.
The AR-70 is a neat rifle, but now largely relegated to collector status because of the magazine situation and the cost of the rifles. Most sell for $2000 plus, so a few hundred for a couple of magazines should not be an issue. If a buyer can afford the rifle, the magazines should not be unaffordable. If the brother-in-law is looking for a shooter, he should look elsewhere.0
