303 ammo( what do i have?)
found a good deal on some 303 ammo ,was wondering the history of it and if its corrosive? 15 rounds too a box ,side of box is written 303 cartridge mk7z,ppu7304,powder nitro cellulose mbl71111.on the headstamp is 303 mk7z,pp-73.where was this made ? thanks in advance

I'd have to cross reference to be sure, but off the top I'd say either Greek or Yugoslav made in 1973. The Yugo would be corrosive and berdan primed. The Greek non-corrsive and boxer primed. Again I'd have to cross reference the head stamp to be sure, but I've never seen the Greek in 15rd boxes. I've seen the Yugo that way though. So best estimate at this point is 1973 Yugoslav corrosive. 0 -
Not Greek. Are the "ppu" & "pp" markings really those or is that just a close approximation? Sounds vaguely like some Israeli headstamps I've seen. 0 -

When in doubt, clean it out! I would clean your rifle up as if it were corrosive, regardless of what some sales people may tell you about surplus ammo, or what you may speculate it may be. 0 -
OK, if S.African, I would be inclined to think it was NC, but I don't have any references which would allow me to make that determination definitively.

teak went back too the gun shop who has this ammo and looked on the wooden crate its in and found where it says made in so africa .1970 production so afican ammo,you think its corrosive?thanks don 0 -
