Maybe let the solvent ur using soak longer before brushing it. I use MPro-7 on mine, and spray and let that baby sit for a while, then come back and spray some more, then brush and wipe clean, it there's any left I just repeat the process. U may have to also use a lead remover, cause sometimes its not powder residue, but lead from the unjacketed back of the bullet.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Use Flitz metal polish. It works great for this type of problem. It can also be used on blue finished guns and wont remove the bluing.

I will second the use of Flitz. Have also used it to lightly buff out problem areas in pre 1900 nickle plating with good results.

Hey guys, where do I get Flitz? I'm having the same problem with my Ruger GP-100 in SS.

Sometimes an eraser will take it off.

Flitz sold by Brownells is an excellent product. Also ss wool works great.

Many companies make a Lead wipe cloth.
Kleen Bore's Lead Away for one will do the job without brushing.

Anyone ever try Turtle Wax when the gun is new (assuming it's stainless)?

    I use SOS pads.

Flitz does work and without abrasiveness.

If you cleaned it the best you can, just leave it alone. I have the same problem with my .357. I bought a cloth, my gundealer said would take this out, and it didn't work. I'm not going to use any abrasive cleaner on it. More damage will be done, than the blackness left.
