How to detetermine pre-ban status?

Is there a place we can go on the net to determine if a gun is pre-ban or not? At the moment, I want to check on an AK and an AR15 receiver, but it would be nice to check any gun by serial number.

  Try AR15.com they had a FAQ and a legal section that used to have that data.

  Thank you all for the feedback. As soon as I can, I'll get some info together and try and be a little more specific and start a new post as "How to determine pre-ban status con't from 10/14/02". I'll also try the advice so far and report back on what I found.
