    marek13-

i beleive you may have been eyeing the 700 varmint model, since all senderos are long action and arent chambered in 223. the price is good in my opinion for both rifles considering the 20 percent discount. i have never owned the 700 varmint but the ones ive seen shot well. i have owned a savage in 308 and it was the most accurate rifle ive ever owned. ditto for my brothers savage 10fp in 223. he gets 3/4 moa with factory loads all day, hope this helps. good luck

marek13, I think it was a 700 Varmint but at $400.00 it is a good buy. The Savage package would also be an excellent buy and accuracy would (or should, based on experience) be there with either one. I would probably opt for the 22-250 caliber as I beleive it is superior to the 223 for varmints. Either way you go the old guy is going to get a neat present! Top either one with a good piece of glass!! If you get the Savage package with the scope let him shoot it awhile and then get his scope of choice or buy him one next Christmas!!! GHD

Yes savage does offer a short action 10,12,16 model all short action guns. I have a 12bvss .308, action not nearly as smooth as the rem 700
Remington want I would buy for that price.

Tha action on the 700 remington alone is worth making the decision to buy it at that price. I have yet to see one, either Sendero or varmit synthetic, blued or stainless, not shoot 1/2" at 100yds with the correct ammuntion. I would jump all over a VS at that price. Maybe this will help in your decision,...the stock alone is just shy of $300 WHOLESALE.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

Thanks so much for the info and advise. I just got back form the store and got the Remington. With everything it ran me 429.99+tax. I am surprised, and I think that the store ringed it incorrectly, but the buy is the buy. Besides they had a close up sale on Harris bi-pods. Regularly 79.99. They were for 21.99 actually they had last 4 so I took them all. My pops will be so happy. He took off from work to look at some guns in Bass Pro Shop in MD. Now I have to prevent him from buying any rifles or my present will be screwed. Thanks again guys for all the help.

marek, Way to go!!! Now since I replied nicely, how about selling me one of those Harris bipods at cost plus shipping? Spread the good deals around!! By the way, are there anymore of the Remingtons at that price? GHD

Thanks for info. About the bipod I will let you know. u see my pops saw them in my car and he automatically stole one. I needed 2 for my rifles. And my friend who accompanied me to the store reserved one (I suspect for resale on line) If I don't see it on his rifle I won't sell it to him. (For this price its a gift) not for resale. Tomorrow I will check other Dicks' stores maybe I will get lucky

marek, Let me know if you find a cache of harris bipods, (more than you can use, of course). That's a dandy price!!
