Marcus.......recently 5000 Russian captured Mausers were impoted to the US. Most went to Aim and Empire (who got the pick of the liter).

Aim is sold out, and Empire has sold out of most of the rare marked ones. All of them make good shooters, but not collectable. Buy one!
These weapons are going up in value everyday for some reason/

The only thing I would watch out for is that some guns, such as some Yugos, Czechs, etc. do in fact have German markings and may even be German made, but are not, per se, German Mausers, I.e. a K98k.

"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conf

I'm not sure of the values, but I have been shooting a sporterized Model 98 for 35 years. Still using the 8 mm load. Good out to 200 to 250 yards with 180 grain bullets. As far as are they good guns, remember, a lot a custom guns use the Mauser action with a rechambered barrel. Once you have run the bolt on one, you will understand why.
