Remington PSS vs. Sendero
Hello this question is for Remington folks. How is the new Sendero compared to the police pss. My friend has the pss in 308 and it is sweat but I see that some Senderos are quite similar. What so different and by that which is better. Which is the better buy for the Money.

There is very little difference, if any. Some members beleive that the PSS stock is somehow better, or improved. Truth be told, it is not. Both stocks are made by HS Precision, a company with a great reputation for making very accurate and durable stocks. they currently have the contract for the military M24 sniper rifle stocks. The PSS stock has 2 sling swivels in the front where the senderos only have one. The first run sendero stocks, were rumored to not have the full length bedding block, which was false. I was in a discussion on the longrangehunting forum, and a production person from HS Precision jumped in and straightened out the info for everyone. The PSS may have a slightly different profile on the bottom of the front of the stock, where the sendero has a varmiting style contour. That is the only difference in stocks.
Caliber is also different. PSS comes in 223, 308, 300win mag, and 300 ultra mag. Senderos come in 25-06, 7mm mag, 300 win mag, 300 ultra mag, 338 ultra mag. Also, senderos are offered in a stainless fluted model, where the PSS is not stainless.
IMHO, after shooting several PSS' recently, it is a marketing ploy. IT WILL NOT OUTSHOOT A 700 Varmit synthetic, or varmit synthetic stainless fluted model. I personaly would rather have a stainless sendero, instead of a PSS. Stainless barrels last longer and are much easier to maintain. just my .02

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. I just sold a Sendero last weekend, in 300 Weatherby, the gun shot excellent, grouped fine with a hand load I spent some time working up, and was stainless steel with flutes. Here is the kicker, what are you doing with it? The Sendero is not practical "for me", the gun was heavy to carry, and the long barrel seem to find every branch overhead. I would look to see what you or the shooter is wanting to do with a certain weapon and go from there, I watched in amazement a while back as a Savage model 10, short action 308 shut everyone up. The gun just had it going on, and it cut holes time after time, it is overlooked but if I was to go buy a 308 bolt, in a sniper setup, I would go with the savage, I seen it with my own eyes and there was Remingtons and even a couple Rugers there, getting there lunch ate...just my 2 cents....swishman
