9 mm German Luger

I have a 1939 9mm German Luger That was carried by Brigadier General Harold R. Harris during WW II, with a letter from his daughter documenting all of this.
Any idea as to the value, The Luger is Mint.

  Was it a p-38, or?
  either way, if it comes out la-git, i'm quite sure that'd be a good price, in terms of collectors item. Esp with the letter.
