follow up to ruger 30.06 accuracy question

I took your advice and took 4 5X7 notecards and folded them in half and stuufed them between the forend and the barrel and the end of the stock to create a contact point. Well the groups have shrunk considerably. Both 3 shot groups I fired were 1 inch at 50 yds with 2 of the 3 holes nearly touching. Now, it's shooting but i have notecards hanging out both side of the barrel so it looks like the barrel is going to fly away!!! So, what do I need to do now??? Do I need to have the whole thing glass bedded or just enough to create a contact point at the end? Is glass bedding expensive? thans again for your help!!!!!!

  ALL YOU NEED IS A DAB OF GLASS BEDDING AT THE END OF THE BARREL CHANNEL, OR YOU COULDD HAVE A GUNSMITH GLASS BED THE WHOLE THING MARKING SURE YOU KEEP THE 'UP' PRESSURE ON THE BARREL.

  I'm glad things were figured out that quickly, it makes you feel much better when you can identify and solve the problem quickly, and it is rellatively uncomplicated.

  Dan,
  You can get buy with cutting down the cards to fit the barrel channel and screwing the action back into the stock. A full bedding job would probably better all around.
