1903 Springfield Bayonet

I have a bayonet marked in the following manner: SA OVER FLAMING BOMB OVER 1918 other side US over serial number.Blued steel,never sharpened, no nicks,wood grips one scratch in grip.Comes with mark one USN Scabard. Any help with value would be appreciated.

  You have a very nice M1905 Springfield bayonet with a US Navy M3 scabbard. Prior to WWI the blades were finished "bright" but after the start of hostilities- up until early 1918, the blades were blued. Later blades were parkerized. Springfield kept producing these bayonets until the mid 1920's and they were issued along with the first M1 Garands. The scabard, if marked Mark I is rather unusual in that I believe those scabards were used by the navy during WWII with some sort of training bayonet, although functional with the standard issue blade as well. Most of these long blade scabbards were shortend during mid WWII to go along with the then new M1 bayonet with its 10" blade. I now make it a point of NEVER putting a value on anything, so others can make that call for you.
