    Unless I'm mistaken the Japanese made this gun. Not a Belgian. If its an A-5 in good shape I wouldn't give more than $500.

    To answer your question,never bid more than you are willing to pay.Make up your mind what the gun is worth to you and bid accordingly.To determine the value of the gun,ask dealers in your area what they have sold them for.Condition and price go hand in hand and will vary widely.Regional interest in A-5 guns affects value also;here in the South they are very popular and bring good money,out west where big game and bolt rifles are king they won't be much in demand.Unless the gun is in real good cosmetic condition,be careful as they are bad to break parts that are expensive.Check especially that the buttstock is tight to the reciever and that the foreend is not cracked or beat out in front where it contacts barrel ring.The barrel extension should be flush or slightly below flush at the front of reciever and the operating handle should not touch the front of the ejection port.Good Luck!!
