Ruger or Taurus .357?

I am looking to buy a new SS 4" .357 revolver to shoot a lot of .357 ammo through. Which is better the Ruger GP100 or Taurus Tracker 627? I like the looks of both and especially like the looks of the ported Taurus but I want something that can handle hot loads. Thanks.

    Both would probably be great weapons to shoot lots of rounds through but if it was me I would choose the Ruger. Taurus is a good gun and probably just as good as ruger but just my humble feeling is that the ruger would be a better choice.

    Either one is a great choice.I just wouldn't get a ported barrel,never liked them.Everytime I shot a gun with a ported barrel I get gun powder in my face.CW

    Go to a gunshop with a range, and rent both guns. Shoot them, and pick the one you like the best.

    I bought a NIB Taurus mdl 608 in 357, The only thing I will say is that I will not purchase another Taurus relover again. The rugers are tank tuff. Don't discount a nice Smith 686 or 586!

    Ya like a Ford or a Chevy? Seriously now, they are darn close in materials and craftmanship with the edge going to Ruger. However Taurus has the unlimited lifetime transferrable warranty. Tough choice.

    I have a Taurus Tracker .357 mag. Its a Great shooter and a lot better looking than a Ruger. Mine will shoot a 1 1/2 in group at 25 yards. And everyone thats shoots it, wants it. It shoots that good. I think that says more for a gun than anything.

    I'd buy a Ruger. There are good Taurus revolvers, but Ruger stuff is overengineered for durability--what you need for lots of 357 loads.

    Interstatepawnllc, Ford & Chevy, you must be joking! More like Ford & Yugo. I heard too many stories or Taurus guns going back to the factory for the "Life Time Warranty." Infact at the gunshop I work has sent at least one a year back. Go with the Ruger. They are good strong guns.

    Rugers are built like a tank. If you can find one a 357 stainless Redhawk would be near the top of my list for firing 'lots' of magnum ammo. S&W N frame would be on top of the list, Rossi close to the bottom and Taurus just above Rossi on the bottom half of the list.

    In the last month I've probably fired 250 high grain 357's and 500 38 specials out of my S&W model 66. It was my first revolver and I cant get enough of it. I would recommend it to anyone.

    I have a Ruger GP 100...........4" SS. I shoot 100-200 158 gr magnums a week. Love it!
