The Tiger is a true Dragunov design, where the Romak is rather an AK derivitive. From an appearance stand point the Romak looks more like the real thing though. The Tiger has been shortened and doesn't have the same forearm as the full size Dragunov. Their mags do not interchange. At one time mags for the Dragunov were nearly impossible to find and ranged from $80-150 each. They have since gotten much more reasonable. The Tigers have not been available for many years and the Romak are still on the market. So if you want something that not everyone has or can get, buy the Tiger. If you want a good gun at a good price and don't care that your neighbor could get one too next week, buy the Romak. Both will function well, but in the looks department the Tiger is more refined, but the Romak looks more like the original military version of the gun.

Again the Romanian designed Romak is not a Dragunov, it is more closely related to the Ak in design. But that is the design the Romanians use themselves. The Romak available in this country just doesn't have the bayonet lug. Otherwise they are identical to the issue weapon. The Tiger was a civilianized version of the standard Dragunov. It is mechanically similar to the issue rifle, but the Tiger's shorter barrel and different forearm make it look different than the standard issue full size Dragunov. The Russian ones are higher because of lack of availability and "Russian" manufacture gives it a certain desireability.

Romak is based on the AK gas system. The Draganov is entirely different. Based on what I've seen from previous auctions, $1350 seems kind of high. Almost all Tiger's I've seen do not come w/ a true dragunov stock, more of a thumbhole stock which IMO very much detracts from it's asthetic appearence. I'm more partial to the true military stock and from some searching I did you won't be able to find a true dragunov stock to fit. Wait for the picture and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Also, just remembered that the tiger will not have a wood forend, but it looks to be more of a rubber type of forend.

Thanks guys for the reply. One more question. How is accurate of the Romak. And do you know where can I get eater decent tiger for a decent price or a decent Romak. You see I was about to spend 1500 tops on a real thing but once I got my $$$ together they kind of deciphered from the auctions. I mean they still there but the prices skyrocket. I want to get a shooter and not a Picasso that I would put on a wall and looked at. I had seen some on gunbroker but one guy wanted 4000$ and the other 6400$ crazy! Because of a price spread I don't know how much a real dragunov is worth. Can you help me with some appraisal? And one last question what?s the difference between Romak and Romak 3

A real Dragunov will run $1800-2500+. How accurate one will be will depend on the shooter and the ammo used. The Romak versus Romak 3 is just one term is being used as the abbreviated designation. There is only the one gun on the US market from them in that caliber. The real deal Russian Dragunov will be hard to find and a lot more expensive than the Romak. Unless that is what you really want and are willing to pay for, I'd go with the Romak and call it close enough. If money is no object, wait and save and get the Russian.

I also have wanted a dragunov. I am very picky though, I want a true military issue dragunov, no import marks, with all accesories including IR scope. I have ran across one that I actually had the oppurtunity to purchase for $3000, however I have also ran across two other opportunities but I was to late on, one was $1200 (gun only) and the other was $2000 (gun only).

Its a sellers market, and until import restrictions are loosened we wont see any more of these that whats already here.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
