my goal: to set up my mossberg 500 410 to hunt pigs, mount scope, aimpoint or iron sights.....
currently.....have a tasco mount that screws to the side of the gun and mounts scope over reciever....(this works..looking for better set-up.)
wanted: possibly a cantilever mounted to my 26" vent rib, or my recvr drilled and tappped for an aimpoint or a compact scope. was also interested in purchasing an 18 1/2 cyl bore and have iron sights mounted to barrel........
will an 18 1/2 cyl bore give me more accuracy/velocity than my current 26" full choke bbl?
here in hawaii i will be hunting 50 pound pigs, most shots under 25 yards.

For your purpose I don't think a scope is the best option. Iron sites or Aimpoint type should give faster target acquistion. As for mounting, I would go with whatever is simple and strong. Barrel mounting would give best accuracy but at 25 yds it shouldn't matter that much.

if you go with a receiver mount, ask the smith use 8/40 screws rather than standard 6/48. 0
