If I read your question correctly you are asking if a private party (unlicensed person) can ship a gun to an FFL holder in a different State. Absolutely yes. In fact, this is the procedure outlined in the firearms laws, the idea being that the FFL holder will document the transaction in his records.

I have a C&R license and bought a rifle from a private individual in Co. I sent payment with shipping money. The seller went to a gunshop to get a box to ship it and the dealer told him he could no longer ship it. Any gun shipped out of Co. had to be sent thru a dealer. I asked him to check with another shop and he told me the second guy told him the same thing. The dealer wants an additional $40.00 to ship it and I guess I just don't feel comfortable with this but I don't want to lose the rifle either.

    MONEY TALKS mine says good-bye

Very strange indeed. I think that you will have to contact the ATF for a reading on this one. It may be that Colorado has passed some legislation in conflict with Federal Law (just as Calif. frequently does), but for some reason I feel that it is unlikely. ATF is current on all the State Laws that effect interstate commerce in firearms. Let us know what you find out.

You could also check with your Post Office, UPS or FedEx ... sounds like the Co dealers are wanting a cut just like Kalifornification dealers ...

I live in CO, have a C&R and ship to other license holders without furnishing a copy of my C&R. I also receive firearms, after furnishing a copy of my C&R, with out receiving a FFL from the other party. The dealers are pulling a fast one. Who are they because I don't want to deal with them.

Ya let us know who the dealer(s) are. A rifle can be shipped through the post office by anyone. As long as it is going to a dealer (like you said.)

    The gene pool needs chlorine.
