What would be a good scope to put on a ruger Mini 14?

A dilligent chap like yourself should have no trouble with this job. If you closely inspect the sides of the base of the front sight you will note that there is a pin that passes through it from side to side. You need a drift punch of the appropriate size and a lightweight hammer to drive the pin out. Now you should be able to use a non-marring hammer to tap the front sight off toward the muzzle. Put the new sight over the muzzle, tap it to the rear, and then re-install the cross pin.

Just my opinion I would put a Muzzle Break on that slides over the factory barrel/sight and pins on.I have several Mini's and have used this method with great results for about $20.00.Take a thick cloth and put over the muzzle break and tap it on with a rubber mallet,as they fit pretty tight. Then once in position use the supplyed pin to tap out the sight pin and it locks your muzzle break on behind your factory sight. Not that it needs it but muzzle breaks may vary by manufacture, but mine fit extremely tight on the barrel.

    Best!!!

I have a few Mini 14's And to use a scope, the Ranch Mini is the only way to go. B-Square, type of a mount works... But!! It is a Mickey Mouse thing...Don't get me wrong, they work, but not as good. And when it's on, you cant use the open sight. You will find a few mounts that you take your rear sight off, Keep away from them, You need that rear sight! if you ever mess up your scope, and then need to use you gun.

It will hurt you, More than it will hurt me..

If you are interested, I have a scope and mount that I took off a Mini-14. E-mail me at bklimecki@comcast.net.

The correct term is "muzzle brake," not "muzzle break."
