Further progress on mystery revolver
A few days ago I posted a topic asking for help ID'ing a revolver and giving value. Someone guessed it might be chambered for .380 Revolver. Today I made a chamber casting of one of the cylinders. As the cylinder wall is straight with no ridge denoting the end of the chamber, it is hard to say, but it appears that it is .38 Long Center Fire, though .380 would certainly chamber. A .38 Spl chambers fine, as it is very very close in dimensions to the .38 LCF. If I ever decide to fire it, I will probably use .38 Spl. trimmed to .38 LCF length and black powder.

Further evidence on chambering: I slugged the bore and it measures .375". .38 CFL measures .375" and .380 Revolver .376" according to Donnely. Either one is still fair game for consideration but it is pretty sure it isn't somethign common like .38 Spl. I'm thinking of some .376" round balls and black powder if I shoot it, or else some slightly smaller bullets paper patched with black powder.

may i suggest the .380-200 british??? we have about 12 rounds at the shop. email me at waltsgun@aol.com and i will give you the exact dimensions. ask for big mike. if this is indeed the right round, brass is pretty cheap at around $25.00 per 100. let me know.

.38/200 is, I believe, the same as .38 S&W which will not chamber. Also the cylinder is twice as long as this round but thanks for the guess!

Check out the 360 #5.
It was used in both revolvers and rook guns. Was pretty close to the 38 long colt with heeled bullet. Your loading should work pretty well. I'd use a hollow base wadcutter bullet. That would help it bump up into that larger than normal 38 bore.
