New taser
Saw an ad for the new taser weapon. Any info or thoughts on this? How well or not well do they work? Thanks, John

We had a training video of the Taser that shot the darts. If the darts were sucessfully placed in the skin, the subject (in this case a deputy volenteer) dropped like a rock. He tried to stand up again, the button was pressed again, and down like a sack of potatoes. He didn't offer to try to rise again.
Never used one. The volunteer is now a captain.

Legally, the taser is treated the same as a cartridge-firing gun. You can't just mail them a check. You can't carry one without a carry permit.
And, it's range is 21'. Max.
And, it's single shot. If there's more than 1 perp, a LEO always has a gun for backup.
And, they cost as much as many good firearms.
But, at least clean-up and paperwork are greatly reduced.

Thanks for the info. I have had a ccw/ltc for over 25 yrs. I was wondering what the result was if clothing was worn? I assume you still aim at c.o.m. Thanks, again. 0 -

You were wondering about clothes....
I take it you have seen ordinary stunguns - at 100.000Volt which is some of the smaller ones, they still produce a spark about an inch in length.
If the Taser has something similar to that, I wouldn't worry about clothes - it would go straight through it too.
(maybe not a plastic heavy duty workmans raincoat)
But ordinaty clothes - the spark would go straight through that too.
Tasers are unfortunately only one shot - but Tasers can be found with a replacement tip, giving you a new set of electrodes in a flash.
Just snap the used one right off, snap the new one in.
People usually only want to try Tasers on themselves, once.
Horrific effect.
