More info would be helpful. Need to know serial number to get year of manufacture. Says stainless guns came with Rubber grips between 1983 and 1996. Also need to know if "Highly Polished" Ultimate bright stainless steel. Could be valued at from a couple hundred dollars up to and possibly more than $1,045.00. More info will help to pinpoint it closer. Hope this helps!

It is in EXCELLENT condition.
It was issued in the 1960--1970 range.
Have been told by a gunsmith, it should bring
around $875.00 with no box if I find an
interested party.

Maybe there is one, but I've never seen a Stainless Python that was made before 1983........

Blue Book says,stainless steel models introduced in 1983.Saxton Pig is right about the prices.The one on auction with a starting price of $725.00 is one of my listings.I've had a lot of questions but no takers as of yet.

No stainless Pythons were made in the 1960-1970 range. Either someone is mistaken, or the serial number is being checked without regard to the prefix, or the gun has been refinished with electroless nickel, etc.. (Some people say a nickel gun is "stainless," so perhaps that could be the problem here.)
It would be helpful if ANYONE seeking identifying or value information about ANY GUN were to post a serial number range. That is usually the single most important identifying factor.0 -

I believe I purchased this one around
the early 80s.
It is not the high polish.

The serial number answers most of the questions.
This Python would appear to be one of the very first true stainless, because the serial number charts show 1983 production as beginning at K99999, and this one is lower than that. (The charts are only approximate, and Colts are often found well out of sequence in shipping dates.) The stainless Python is generally considered to have been introduced in 1983.
If the revolver had its box, it would have extra value (at least to me) because of being very early. It may still have a tiny bit of extra value due to the early production. Put it on the auction and lets see how much it will bring.0
