Mossberg 500 Persuader question

There are 4 small screws in the top of the receiver. When you open the action and look through the ejection port, you can see the front two holes and they are threaded the entire way down. It kind of looks like the holes are taps for rear sights and the screws are just fillers. Is this what they really are, or are they something else?

Also, why does Mossberg say you can't install ghost ring sights on a 500 with the heat shield? The rear sight looks like it mounts about where the mystery screws are, and the heat shield doesn't extend the entire way to the front sight.

  That's It sundowner.Mossberg offers rifle-type sights, or ghost ring sights for their shotguns.If I'm noy mistaken I think night sights are an option.
