Vihtavuori oy N140 VS H380
I am using H380 for my 308 load with a nosler 150 ballistic tip. Nosler tells me that the most accurate load they found was with the Vihtavuori oy N140. Does anyone know how much better that would shoot. Will it also be the best in my A bolt? I am not sure if that data has any real world use.

I hate to have to be the one to point some of these things out to you.
No one can anticipate how much better a bullet/powder combination will shoot in your rifle. There are simply too many variables to consider. "Better" in terms of generalities and opinions on performance can be passed on as can "accuracy loads" but not absolutes based on your rifle/barrel combination. The data that Nosler quotes to you is based on their lab testing in their rifle. It is as real world for them as any set of conditions that you shoot in, is for you. They eliminate as many variables as they can in order to have a basis to compare. You, on the other hand are stuck with the conditions of the day and the area when and where you choose to shoot. No, your results may not reflect those of Nosler but neither are the conditions the same. Nosler is giving you general information that is safe in most if not all situations. It is your job to test what might work for you. There is no easy solution, you just have to try the different combinations that seem to be able to perform the best.
Opinion:
In my rifles, IMR-4895 (THE classic) works good.
VV N-135 and 133 work good and burn clean.
Re-15 and AA-2520 are both good powders.
These tests have been done in bolt action, modern rifles not gas operated firearms. The information is with 150 grain bullets only. Remember to start with the lower loads and work your way up carefully.

I would recomend HOGDON VARGET as well. Most rounds that i have loaded it with have shown exceptional accuracy. Have seen too much fluctuation in pressure with temperature with Hogdon ball powders(H414, H380, BLC2). I loaded and tested ammo in the summer, worked good; In the winter it was like a totally different load. Point of impact moved as much as 8 inches. 0
