CZ75b v. Springfield XD both in 9mm
I am looking at either a CZ75 or Springfield XD in 9mm for general shooting. They are priced roughly the same. Does anyone have any suggestions, recommendations, or other words of wisdom about either of these?
Thanks,

I would get the CZ,why?I never by a gun unless it has been out a few years, and know it will be out awhile.CZs are known to be reliable and durable. They have been made for years and HiCap mags are available still.I have nothing against the XD,but if price is why you are considering these two check out a Ruger P-95.It has a polymore frame and is as good as a gun as my much more expensive Glocks.CW

Both made in about the same part of the world. I'be pick the CZ, a lot more stuff out there for the CZ, athough the XD is just the HS200, and I think that the HS took berreta 92 clips. I'm not sure if springfield changed that or not. 0 -
I just purchased an XD V10 and think it is an excellent firearm. Up until today my daily carry was a Ruger KP89 and it is an excellent firearm - mine is 1992 vintage and has 2 hi cap (15 rd mags) but I've up dated and I think the SA was a better choice than a Glock.
It will be a hard choice to make because the CZ is world class but will you be able to get it in the finish you want? - ie hi gloss blue or stainless or the ugly painted iteration?? If you cannot get the finish you want consider Ruger in either metal or polymer. Ruger's are just about indestructable and if you don't want hi tech (ie ported, grip safety etc) the Ruger should win hands down.
If you have large hands you will like the P89 Rugers.
Good luck in your choice because there are so many out there0 -
Of the two you mentioned take the CZ. Good quality, reliability, decent accuracy and a reasonable price. I was not impressed with the XD when it was the HS 2000 and cost 125 less for the same gun.

Both are good guns ,but in my opinion the CZ75 is one of the best handguns ever made. With routine maintenance it should last you a life time.
Best!!!

Interestingly enough I was at the range during lunch (again) yesterday and stopped to look at a 9mm Baretta. The owner came over with an XD and couldn't say enough about it. He told me he had never considered it before but then they used it as a rental at the range and he became hooked. His rec was to save the money and get the XD over the Baretta.
Every so often, I like to stick my head out the window, look up, and smile for a satellite picture.0 -
CZ hands down. I have 2 didn't spend more than 400 on either. Top quality guns. Let a friend who was a beretta owner shoot one. He sold it and had a CZ at the range within a week.... there are packages on GB for $339 with holster, lock, a hi-cap mag and a 10 rd mag. the poly coat finish is ugly, but tough.

Both the CZ and the XD are very good firearms. I would feel comfortable carrying either of them on duty. I would place them both a level above the ruger, however the ruger is a fine firearm also.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

If u have a smaller hand the XD will fit better. I found I could not reach the trigger on CZ properly but no problems with XD. 0 -
In my opinion there isnt a better hand gun than the CZ75B with regular maintenance it should last a lifetime. Each CZ 75 after being Manufactured is dipped in an oil bath and the slide is racked by a machine a minimim of 10,000 times to remove any Burrs and the pistol is ready to go out of the box.You can hold the pistol and feel the quality and worksmanship.I cant say if the other CZ Pistols go through this process, but I read every model 75 was.And mine shoots excellant, its not at all ammo picky. However the XD is on my wish list,Ive heard nothing but good reviews about it.Of course you could by a Ruger P89!!!
Best!!!

Should be named sock.
If I were you I'd go with the CZ. I remmember walking into the local gunshop and seeing that HS now XD gun and think what the heck is this thing. Kinda looks like they took a glock and combined it with a sig sauer & a 1911. My feeling on the XD is that it's too complicated. Does it really need a grip safety? And talk about ugly! I'm now working at that gunshop part-time. I refuse to reccomend Sprinfield anymore. They will put their name on anything. They can't even make their guns in the USA anymore.0
