disassembly help/Dan Wesson

I recently purchased a used Dan Wesson .44 and would like to disassemle it for a complete cleaning and lubing. Contacted the current Dan Wesson company and was sent a manual for this firearm but it gives no instructions for disassembly. Can anyone help?

  Trust me on this one. Unless you have been to a DW armorers class, don't do a 'complete' disassembly. It is a first class SOB to put back together. Use some of the ol Gun Scrubber and some BreakFree instead.

  Punchie speaks the truth: if you have the proper barrel nut wrench for the 44, the only things you should take off the frame are the barrel shroud & nut, then unscrew the barrel. Replace the barrel after cleaning & be very careful to use the correct feeler gauge to set a .012" gap between the face of the cylinder & the breech end of the barrel. Don't make the mistake of tightening the barrel down onto the gauge - you can push the cylinder back on it's axle & end up with much less than the proper gap & create a very unsafe firearm! You can pull the grip off (remove the screw in the heel first) if you want to clean up the frame, but don't go any further if you're smart. If you have ANY doubts as to the safety or other condition of your new weapon, take advantage of the factory's program to have your weapon picked up by FedEx & returned to them for a very thorough inspection. It's cheap insurance & you know when you get it back in a few days that whatever you authorized them to do was done correctly.
