Dented Primers = Excessive Headspace??

    First check the bolt face for approximately 1/16" protrusion of the firing pin. Also check if you get a solid clunk when you dry fire it.
    If you don't get it, take the bolt apart and clean out the cosmoline.
    My reaction is that this is the problem.

    Screw the firing pin assembly all the way in, You're one thread short.

    Make sure the bolt handle is not contacting the stock,keeping it from going completely into battery position.It doesn't take much contact to cause a M98 to do exactly what you described.Let me Know how it turns out.Roger heckmanj@ptsi.net
