old double barrel
I have a Central Arms Co 12ga. double barrel, very tight probably as tight as any new shotgun. I have been using it for rabbit hunting and it works great. It is not rusted but the blueing is not real good, and the stock has a small chip and small crack right above the trigger that has been repaired with epoxy. The serial no. is 6012 and the patent date is april 20, 1915. Can someone give me a ballpark on the value.

Some years ago I bought a 12 ga. double barrel shotgun from an older gentleman. He was selling all his guns. I got this from him for fifty bucks. When I got it home, I broke it down and couldn't find any markings on it. No serial #, no mfr. no proof marks, nothing. it sat in my closet for a few years, and at a time when I needed money quick, I took it to a local gun shop. He looked it over and said he would give ma a hundred for it and I accepted. I asked him if he knew what it was and he said an early Ithaca and it was at one time under recall. Anyone have an idea what this may have been and if it was fairly priced? 0 -
Take the forend off and dismount the barrels. Then look under the barrels for markings. Do you see an oval with an E over LG ? If so, it's a Belgian import.
The "twist finish" refers to the barber pole striping pattern on the barrels. Examination of the barrel under the forearm will reveal if the barrel is twist steel or if the pattern is just a finish. If it's plain steel it's a shooter with light loads only. If it has twist steel barrels it's a risky business even with black powder.
It is likely that the chambers are 2 1/2" and need 2 1/2" shells.
The gun is not valuable.0
