I own two Sigma's SW40VE,and a SW40V.They both have proven to be excellent shooters with various ammo. And are very reliable I would recommend it to any one.S&W now makes a Sigma chambered for the .357 sig.

    Best!!!

Not to steer you away from the Sigma, but have you also looked at Glocks? This will give a suitable standard of comparison for a polymer gun.

The SW99 is a awesome weapon. It has a internal hammer like the glock but has a decocker on the slide. It is made under Walther patent, and very accurate(at least in my hand).

Something between the Sigma and the Glock, check out springfield armory's XD series polymer frame auto's. Its kinda like a hybrid between a Glock and a Sig...

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I have passed on this topic several times, but, being a fan of the Sigma pistols, I decided I had better see what was being discussed.

I like the Sigmas much better than the Glocks. The grip angle is much superior for me. The Sigma grip is one of the best ever for me. That said, for ultimate service under the most severe conditions, I am sure the Glock is superior. However, under average conditions, I believe the Sigma is a good reliable pistol, and none have blown up as far as I know, which cannot be said for Glocks. The latest Sigma pistols are much improved over the early ones as well.

mcbab must have two one-of-a-kind pistols if he or she has a SW99 and a Glock with internal hammers. Mine have striker ignition systems, not hammer ignition systems.

As a point of interest, New Jersey (I think it was) began replacing its old H-K P7M8 pistols with SW99 pistols and the SW99 pistols were totally unsatisfactory. Smith was trying to fix them, but I think New Jersey may have cancelled the contract after the fixes did not solve the problems. I qualify this answer as from my poor memory and not verified by current research. Anybody know the story for sure?
