Sig P230

I have a sig p230 that says its a 9mm short ....is that a 380 ? what kind of ammo should i shoot in it ?
also is 380 a good self defense caliber ?

I know Sig no longer makes this gun. I assume it was replaced by the P232. Are there any significant diffences in the 2 models?

The grips and the internal safety bar are the only changes is what I was told by a SIG armourer.

The new gun has a lighter (aluminum) frame I believe.

After doing some looking, I see that the 230 has a manual safety in addition to the decocker. Also I see that the 232 is not offered in .32 as the 230 was.
