Question on 700 BDL Remington
First off, I love this forum. I've learned alot in the week I've been reading, so hats off to the folks who run it and also, thank everyone for their help in my questions. I have a 7mm Mag Remington bought used in great shape 4 years ago. It has the monte carlo stock. (shiny finish) (last part of stock is black like a BDL) Now my question is, all Rem. BDL rifles I Have seen have the small extra diamonds cut in the pistol grip and fore grip. This rifle has just good old cut checkering without the little diamonds. It says "Remington model 700" on the left side. and the bolt itself is checkered on the top. I've always assumed its a BDL, but have never seen one like it, the stock appears original with a Remington recoil pad. The serial number is : A6356317 : The guy I bought it from said it was a bdl so I assumed it was. Anyone know what year this rifle was made?? is it a BDL?? It is in great shape and topped with a burris I bought on Guntrader this rifle shoots excellent. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch

If you have a drop plate on the stock, it's a BDL or a classic. However from the black tip on the stock I know it's not a classic or a ADL. So it must be a BDL unless the stock is not original. 0 -
Redches,
The Model 700 in 7mm Mag has been around since 1962. There have been many stock variations since then. The quickest way to tell if it is a BDL is to look for the hinged magazine floorplate or detachable magazine (I don't think you have that one). If it has a floorplate it is a BDL.
From your brief description I would bet you have a BDL.
