9mm Removable Barrel

Guys,

I'm trying to help out a friend here. Does anyone know of a production pistol that has removable barrels? Thompson is the only one that comes to mind but I have never seen one. Do the barrels thread directly into the frame? Are there other makes?

  Most automatic pistols have easily removable barrels. The
  Dan Wesson is the only current revolver having an interchangeable barrel.

  Thompson/Center single-shot pistols use a 3/8" dia. steel pin as a pivot; push out the pin and you can change barrels quite quickly. They do have a 9mm Luger bore available in a couple (or more) lengths. Incidentally, they're working on a redesigned action (the G2) for release this fall. http://www.tcarms.com The only other revolver I know of (besides the previously mentioned DW's) that's available is the Italian import Mateba semi-auto, available in 357 and 44 Magnum. They offer 4", 6", and 8" barrels and the associated barrel shrouds. I've seen a couple up for auction on G'b recently. There's also supposedly a carbine version but I've never seen one (same action, longer barel & different stocks). I had one in 44 Magnum (actually I had four over a period of about 18 months) but ended up selling it back to the wholesaler due to a repetitious string of defects causing malfunctions that were unable to be resolved.   Desert Eagles can have the barrels and calibers changed. No 9mm however.

  They make a 9mm version of the Baby Eagle, but that - and the Desert Eagle semi-autos - fall into the category of most other semis as well: most all have removeable barrels. To be realy picky cbxjeff you should have asked for "interchangeable" barreled pistols. If you're determined you can remove the barrel on any handgun with the right tools. Getting it back on again properly can be a challenge...
