Winchester 100 stock

I have a Winchester model 100 stock with checkering. Can anyone tell me what model year these were used?

  I have a win 100 from 1966. Anyone know what kind of wood was used for the stock? I will try to post a PIC later

  I'm pretty sure it's walnut.I've never heard of Winchester using anything else on either the 100 or the 88s.
