I have a friend who bought a Bersa and you couldnt hit the side of a barn with it.I found out that Eagle Industries Imports it and he sent it to them and described the problem. In about two weeks he recieved the gun back and a target where the gun was fired at 25yrds and all shots were center hits, and they had replaced the barrel. It solved the problem now the gun shoots fine. For the money I think the Bersa is a better buy.The .380ACP was never known for great accuracy.

    Best!!

The Walther has a bad trigger.

The Bersa has a HORRIBLE trigger.

    Bad beats horrible.

Bersa is also a lot bigger.

There is no comparison. You get what you pay for.

In Charleston Bersa's sell for $199. to $250 for stainless slide.
Accurally I found them to be a good value for the money. The frame is light weight alloy and wont stand up to THOUSANDS of rounds but who shoots a .380 for target anyway. I find the trigger no worse than Walther and the gun no bigger than Walther PP's. The Bersa won't bite the hand web like the Walther certainly will. Is a Walther two times better than a Bersa? Heck no. Youll have that much money left over to buy another gun.
All in all Bersa is an attractive, well made, fair priced gun, with a life time warrenty too.

I succumbed to a used Walther PPK a few weeks back. It's very accurate and feeds well having been given a ramp throat job by its previous owner. The DA trigger is passable, SA is good. I'm getting a Big Dot sight put on it. I could use the little sights on it, but I know that the Big Dot will be much more usable.

The 380 is mainly a backup and/or concealed carry gun--something you might one day stake your life on. You absolutely want a reliable gun for this purpose. Spend the money and do it right. Walthers are worth the dough.

FWIW The price you were quoted sounds very close to list. You could shop around or buy a used one if money is a concern.

Get the new PPK/S-1. It is now made by S&W, and has 2 huge improvements. Most visible is the extended beaver tail. More important is that it now has an integral firing pin safety, the kind where the trigger has to be pulled all the way back before the pin will move. This is in addition to the pin block/hammer drop safety. It is made by Smith and Wesson, so the quality should be there.

I bought one of the recently imported CZ50's for < $100. It's only a .32, but certainly in the same league as the Bersa.

I just can't see spending $500 for a relatively large gun in a relatively marginal caliber.

Just my .02 but the Walther IS twice the gun as the Bersa. You'll find that out when you try to trade BUT if your short of $$ try a German
Walther used import in .32 (7.65 mm) You canget them under $300 and from personal experience the .32 is more accurate. In real world shooting, the 32 is as reliable as 380 when using the same bullet type.

Seb-That Walther is a pricey rascal indeed...this morning there is a "For Sale" card at the doughnut shop bulletin board: "Walther PP.380 semiauto pistol, German made, never fired, box, papers & tools $895.00" This is an individual, private-party seller and the price sounds high to me? I may look at it this afternoon and see what the gentleman's best price might be. Jim

Old hickory is right in that you will never get your money back in reselling the Bersa, nothing like name brand recognition with the Walther. I wonder if James Bond had carried a Bersa or a CZ 50/70 would we react differently ?

Hey Flinch - good point!! Walthers shoot pretty good for pocket pistols designed in 1929.
