P1 P38 compatability?
I have a WWII Vintage P38. Since the P1's on the market seem so inexpesive, I'm considering buying one so I can swap barrels, or the whole upper, to preseve the P38 while still getting to shoot it at the range, how compatable/interchangeable are the parts between the two guns?

Its not just a matter of swapping parts. There is a good chance the parts will have to be fitted to the slide. That is best done by a competent gun smith if you don't have a lot of experience with it.
The P-1's that I have seen appeared to be good shooters all by themselves. So if you bought one, there would be no need to change parts, just to have a shooter. Keep things simple.

Okay so it may not be completely suitable for spare parts, but what about taking the entire upper off of the P1(as in field stripping) and putting it on the p38? 0 -
It still may need "fitting". Should work all else being equal. CDNN has the P-1's for about 240.00. I've seen lower prices but have only seen the guns from CDNN.

i have seen ads for P-1's with P-38 slides. the price is higher. are these parts guns, or a production ovelap(factory assembly versus aftermarket part/kit guns)???
