3006 bullet weight
With the wide range of bullets available for the 3006, what would be the lightest weight bullet recommended for whitetail at less than 200yds.

This is kind of a sticky question--the 110 gr. Varminter bullet would do the job with a good hit; I think a 150 gr. would be a better choice on the smaller end. I've always used a 180 gr. for deer. 0 -
I use the 150 gr for all deer sized game, from small whitetail to large mulies. A well placed, well constructed 150 gr. will do the job on just about anything. I am not aware of any lighter bullets constructed for deer size game, most are varmint (very light jackets) construction and will 'blow-up' on a deer's shoulder.

I use 150 grain also. Drops 'em dead every time, provided I do my part. If I'm hunting in heavy brush at shorter ranges, I opt for the 180 gr. It kills 'em too. No scientific experience to base it on, just my experiences . . . 0
