Info. on gun?

My uncle asked me to see what I can find out about his gun. It is an old single shot 12 gauge with a hammer. Engraved on it is American Gun Company New York 491169(serial #)? Also engraved on the top of the barrel is Genuine Armory Steel.
I'm new to this site so I'm hoping this is an OK question to ask? Curious about the company, worth or any other pertinent info.
