Where to get a 1911 Colt Govt on line
I have decided to get my first .45, and I want a govt model Colt, as basic as possible. I actually like the idea of the 1911 re-issue, but it is almost a grand. On the Colt website, it looks as if I have to get a 1991 model; I take it Colt doesn't make the series 80 anymore? When did they stop?
Anyway, the cheapest I could find a new Colt on line was for $566.00 at guns4ever.com. It will still cost me another $40.00 with the shipping and the FFL fee. One shop in town has a nice new Series 80 for $660.00; I'll bet I could get it for $600.00. Any other ideas out there?
By the way, how do the Springfields stack up?

I suggest that you visit your local dealer. I've received flyers in the past month from at least two, and I believe more, distributors advertising not only Series 80 Mk IVs, but Series 70s as well.
