I HAVE SOME 30-06 AMMO WHICH IS HEADSTAMPED 30-06 SPRINGFIELD S-W.IS THIS SMITH AND WESSON AMMO? IF NOT WHAT DOES THE S-W STAND FOR ? THANKS IN ADVANCE

yes, it is smith and wesson ammo. it came in 10 rd plastic blister packs with an s&w sticker/label on it. we still have a few packs at the shop. it shot well out of my fathers remington model 721 bolt action rifle(24 inch barrel). you will also occaisionaly find s&w shotshells.
What other dungeon is so dark as ones own heart, what jailer so inexorable as ones own mind.0 -

Ive read a article or two on the old S&W ammo and it apparently had a reputation of being good shooting ammo.

Most of the S&W Rifle ammo had Alcan primers, Alcan powder and hornady bullets. were VERY good. I have been trying to get an original pack for years, VERY hard to find.

S&W man, email me at waltsgun@aol.com and make me an offer. ask for big mike. as to the quality, we have reloaded the s&w cases many times, and the are problem free. do they still make it? when did they start and stop production?other calibers?
