Remington PSS 700 vs. Savage 10FP
Hi everyone has anyone own remington police PPs or savage tactical 10 FP
i saved money to get the savage but now i am considering the remingtom.
is it worth to pay double for the remington. i am considering the 308 version ( for target shoting and maybe deer hunt) how is acurency of those rifles and marksmenship.
thanks Mark

I think the Remington is a better bet.

A new rifle barrel is best when you break it in. Check with the seller on how this is done and this will improve your accurate shooting!

I have a 110FP Tactical in 300 and don't have anything bad to say about it. A close friend has a 700 PSS in 308 and my 110FP will shoot with it any day. In the long run the Remington is probably the better gun but bang for the buck it is hard to beat the Savage.

i have the pss in 308 and love it. i shoot .5 moa with it and an ior 6x42. also, there are 200 million ways to customize it, and adjusting the trigger is so easy i did it myself.you can find them for $700. what are you going to pay for the 10FP

Maggithecat is accurate. I have the PSS in .223 and a 3 round 1/2 inch hole at 100 yards, outside to outside measurement, is not unusual with mine. 5 rounds at 1/2 inch or 3 at 3/8's is tougher, but that's my failure and lack of talent, not the rifle. That's with Winchester USA2232 ammunition at $10.95 for 40 rounds...
Suggestion: consider your perspective if you were going to own the rifle for 25 years. PSS's can be had for around $700. It's worth it in my opinion. Just take your time breaking it in.

these guys pretty much covered it, except you mention target shooting with the rifle. i owned the savage in 308 and it was tackdriver at 100-200 yards, but at extended ranges it didnt hold its accuracy. i read about similar problems on another website, although im not sure what cuases this. my pss is 223 but shoots under 1 MOA all the way to 500 yds, the furthest ive fired it. i agree with the rest, the savage is a good value but the pss with be the best inthe long run. good luck however you decide! 0 -
The Remington is an excellant gun but I would not pay the price difference for a gun I might scratch or scuff while hunting. For hunting and general use I would choose the Savage. If I had a few extra Bucks and wanted a nice looking excellant shooter go with the Rem.
Best!!

Thanks for all the info. Shuh I went today to my local gun shop and felt the PSS. Oh boy it feels like my wife when firs meet her. I think I am going to wait and save some more for the PSS. Not that I am putting down the savage but the rem. Just feels better in my hands.
One more thing about breaking in the rifle what is the best way to do it?
I hope that 10 years from now I won?t fell the same way about my rifle as I feel about my wife(LOL)0
