SAIGA 12
Does anyone think the Saiga 12 will get Banned?

I'd like a SAIGA 12 guage, but I live in Connecticut. The Assault Weapons ban here lists specific models of weapons including Street Sweepers and the USAS-12, as well as a vague listing of "AK-47-type". Since a shotgun is not a rifle, is it only wishful-thinking on my part that their definition does not include the SAIGA shotguns, or am I on a fast track to becoming a felon?
If anyone knows where I can go to get a definitive answer I would really appreciate it. The other possibility is considering another magazine-fed 12 guage since there is no reference in the law. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Try www.nraila.org There is a list of the "evils" and the Saiga is not there. It has none of the points that make it an assault weapon, it's a shotgun, a single stack mag of 10rd. or less. It only looks evil. When you go to the site click research, then state laws and a map will come up.

Well, upon further investigation, my info. is wrong. I've found a picture of the Saiga, and I see it has the pistol grip. According to Ct. definition in the ATF book "State Laws and Published Ordinances" P5300.5 of an assault Weapon it reads: A semiautomatic shotgun that has at least 2 of the following (1) a folding or telescopic stock (2) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon (3) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rds. (4) an ability to accept a detatchable magazine. Even though the mag only holds 5 rd. it is detatchable. I don't think you're missing anything. Gun Test Mag suspended testing on theirs when the top cover fell off. They liked the Valtro pump. It holds 7rd. in the mag, has all the evil points, fires a 3in shell and is legal since it is a pump. And it was $40 cheaper.

Flitz,
The 12 gauge Saiga isn't sold to the public with the pistol grip stock--last I checked, the pistol grip was only available to law enforcement.
The best way to get a definitive answer on the legality in your State is to talk to local FFL's in your State.0 -
I looked into getting one of these for quite a while for Tactical matches that I participate in. A very reliable gunshop in my hometown told me they were complete junk and essentially refused to sell me one. Undetered (they look cool and I really wanted one), I investigate further and essentially found that advice to be correct. There are better options out there; you should buy something else. 0
