Ithaca model 500
I have an Ithaca 20GA my mom gave me,she said it was bought new about the time I was born and I'm almost 37. I was wondering if anyone had any info' on it. The exact markings are;
Model 500 -20GA-3 chamber-proof tested
Ithaca gun Co.,INC.,Ithaca, N.Y. Made in Japan-roto forged
On the other side of the barrel, it says custom crafted for Ithaca by SKB.This gun is a bouble barrel,over-under, with designs in the metal and in very good condition. Any info would be helpful, but my mother and I are both curious as to the value.One last thing, I've been around gun's since age 17 and I don't understand 3 chamber tested,I've never heard of it.

I'm trying to find all the information I can on a Ithaca-SKB model 500 20ga. I have been to both Ithaca's & SKB's web sites but could not locate any information on it. Do you have any suggestions? 0 -
Quite simply you're missing the (") inch stamp. Thus, 3" chambers.
Not a collectors piece, yet a good gun. Value will probably top around $500.00 depending upon how close to new condition it is.

the Ithaca 500 is a great shotgun. The 20 guage usually sells for $100to$200 more than the 12. I've owned several in the last 25 years and I prefer their "feel" to the Citori by Browning or the Ruger, although that's just a personal opinion. The engraving on the early ones,like yours was very simple and tasteful. If you look in a Blue Book of gun values they tend to undervalue the 500's from my observation. You have a great Mom!! 0
