That is about the average price for a model 10 , look in the yoke, for the number IE 10-2, 10-6, 10-8 or what ever, then you can tell when it was made.

I just bought a 10-8 for 100.00, in excellant condition. but 200.00 is still a good price.

In the condition you describe, with the box and papers, it would bring more than that on Gunbroker. That is my barometer. I ask myself, "If I had to sell it next week, can I get my money back?"

    Sounds like this one will.

As a point of information , the date of manufacture officially given by S&W in their letters is the date it was shipped from the factory. Many handguns which required rework{and there were many ) with lower serial numbers will letter later manufacturing dates than those handguns with higher numbers.
Bottom line: For the purist who wants the manufacturing date of a S&W handgun, you must write S&W and get a letter stating when the gun was shipped. I believe a letter is around $35.00 and is handled by Roy Jinks.

Thanks Saxon, I will pick up the Smith in the morning. I made the mistake you were talking about "serial number location". Anyway I will post the proper #'s to learn alittle more tommorow. I think the box and papers is what sold me on the pistol. They were just as nice as the relover!

    Many Thanks,
