Colt Diamondback 2.5" in E-Nick
Recently acquired a Colt Diamondback 2.5" with the Electroless Nickel Finish (one of the reasons I bought the gun), has the red insert on the front site, and a white outline in the adjustable rear. This is my first Diamondback, and probably won't be my last as I just purchased another Diamondback 2.5" in Blue. That being said, where does one find a holster for this type of Colt? Is my only option Milt Sparks for a custom PDK? Also, is the Diamondback +P rated? Colt has told me that the Detective model (of which I have several), can shoot +P, but they don't recommend continued and frequent use of +P ammo in that model. I carry Federal Hydra-Shok in my revolvers and I am assuming that the Diamonback can handle that ammo as well as +P if necessary. Please advise...thanks!

Most firearms manufacturers will not recommend the use of +P in small frame revolvers(I know the Diamondback is considered medium) due to liability issues. If you ask any of their engineers if they would use them personally they will probably all tell you yes but most practice should be done with standard ammo and keep the hot stuff for carry. 0 -
Just reading the manual for the Diamondback .38 Special......says here: +P Special, Yes *(Steel frame). Okays that settles that!
Now listen to this, (also in the manual),
*Extensive use of +P 38 Special ammunition will accelerate wear in your revolver. For continued satisfactory performance, have it checked at a Colt Authorized Repair Service Station periodically. Intervals should be every 1000 rounds in aluminum frames and 2000 to 3000 rounds in steel frames.
It goes on to say:
NOTE: If you want to use +P+ 38 ammunition, buy a Colt revolver chambered in 357 Magnum cartridges. The dealer will be pleased to show you the Colt revolvers which are suitable and available.
Guess that sums it all up.....straight from the Colt Diamondback Manual....Enjoy, they're a great revolver!
