.358 Winchester Model 88

Does antbody know if Winchester ever made a clip for a model 88 stamped .358.

Can anyone help me to replace this rifle. I've been unsuccessful with any of the collectors in my area. My grandfather lost his in a fire. I know that they are rare and it would have to be in VG to Excellent condition. Thanks.

Winchester never made a clip for the 88's in 358 that was stamped 358.All the clips for the 88's that were pre 64 had no stamping on them.Just the post 64 clips had the cals on them.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, all the pre "64 clips are the same. 243, 308, 358, and 284 are all based on the 308 case.

The 284 is a differant clip on it's own.You cannot use a 284 clip with 243-308 or 358 ammo loaded in it,they wont feed.The wings on the 284 clip are not the same.The 284 brass is bigger around than the others.

Thanks 88 Man, I should have known that. I have both in the safe. 308 & 284.
