my great grandfather's 32 revolver
I was recently given a gun from my grandfather who is 90 yrs old , a gun that belonged to his father. I am wondering how old it is and any significance of it.. it is a revolver, double action, on the top says U.S. Revolver Co. Made in USA, it is pretty small about 6 or 7 inches long. and it has a US stamped at the top of the grip almost like an issue military gun would have. under the trigger guard has a serial 41147, and it is one of those where the barrel doesnt rock out of the gun body , you have to load each round one at a time. with it are a few .32 cal S&W rounds. My grand father said his father bought the gun used around 1932, it seems to be in good shape for how old it is, it has some real light suface rust but the gun is funtional, although i havent attempted to fire it, (and probably wont). any info would be great. thanks alot..

U.S. Revolver Company...Saturday Night Special...Turn of the Century Pocket Pistol. Cost about $4.00 to $5.00..They were never used by the U.S. Army or any other Branch of the Military...The U.S. Stamp on the Butt is just a Sales Gimmick...Value Wise...in the condition you discribe....$50.00........

I have several .32s of this period which I do fire. I reload with blackpowder, though I have shot modern smokeless, I feel that so many of these are so loose and wobbly because they were never really made for a high power cartridge. Stick with BP or really light smokeless charges and you'll be in good shape.
