any imfo on a 16 guage sxs,28" barrels, "J.stevens arms company,Chicopee Falls, Mass. U.S.A.
-Springfield- above manufacturers name on left side of mechanism. On the right side "5100". It has double triggers. the barrels are marked right barrel "selected forged steel", left barrel "proof tested-16 guage-23/4 inch chamber. How old ? How valuable (fair-poor condition)? How would it be choked??

Well, it is really hard to assign a date to this weapon, but giving a stab at it I'll guess mid 1960's. I collect 16 gauges and the value in good condition would be ~$150 to a collector, in public or auction probably $100 in GOOD condition. Sad I know. Chokes can be determined by measuring the diameterof the inside of the bore. Take it to your local gun smith they can usually do it in a few seconds for free. Most likely they are MOD chokes but more likely FULL by any of todays standards.
