Help me out if you can!! I have a Winchester Repeating Arms, stamped on the top of the barrel is stamped: 32 W.C.F. Serial # is a 4 digit number. It has open sights, octagon barrel and is a lever action.

Can somebody tell me what I have my hands on?

    Thanks, Les

You really don't give us much information to go on. The .32-20 Winchester (32WCF) was available in two different model rifles, the model 1873 made from 1873-1919 and the model 1892 made from 1892-1941. Because of the low serial number,I would think that your rifle is a model 1892 as the .32-20 wasn't chambered in the model 1873 until after serial number 90,000. Look at the top tang just behind the hammer and you should find the model number. The model should be written out "MODEL 1892" and "WINCHESTER TRADEMARK" in two lines. On late model rifles it will read "MODEL 92" over the "WINCHESTER TRADEMARK". You don't tell us if you have a rifle (24 inch barrel),carbine (20 inch barrel)or musket (30 inch barrel)nor do you tell us anything about the condition your rifle is in or even if it has an octagon or round barrel. Therefore no one here can give you even a ballpark figure as to value. Send more information and we will see what we can do.

Ok the condition seems to be good there is no bluing if there ever was. It seems to be mechanically in excellent shape. The barrel is 24 inches long octagon with A round tube magazine the full length of the barrol. On the tang just behind the hammer, it has a flip up peep-sight. The wood is sound but has some nicks and scratches also has A crescant metal butt plate. Under the flip-up peep sight, it has: Model 1892, Below that: Winchester, Below that: PAT. OCT 14.1884.

The only thing I see is that it has a red field, ramp sight, and a blade front sight. I hope this will help. Thanks, Les
