Red Label Purchase
Finally taking the plunge and getting a lightweight O/U for upland game and sporting clays. My choices have long been narrowed down to a Red Label and a Beretta Ultralight. From experiance, I admire both companies for turning out reliable and great looking products. The price differential though, couldn't be overlooked.
Opportunity struck, and now I'm picking up a 28 guage Red Label (English Stock, 99%, box, everything) for $800. Just in time for dove season. I'm also eagerly anticipating the usual hunts in North Dakota and Kansas.
I'd like to hear from other hunters using 28 guage shotguns for upland game. I believe I'll primarily use it for quail, doves, grouse here in the Colorado mountains, and selected pheasant days. Probably won't use it on the windy days where longer shots are necessary. Any feedback is appreciated.

When I shot registered skeet 30 years ago the 28 ga. was my favorite.
Even today the 28 is favored by many, many skeet shooters and upland game hunters.Just yesterday at the skeet club 3 out of 5 on our squad were using 28 ga. o/u's and doing very well.I wish I still had my matched pair of Remington 1100's in 28 and 410.I would certainly suggest that you practice with it before hunting. You will not be disappointed and you made a good choice.
