Anyone have a FEG PA-63 in 9x18?
I have seen a lot of these FEG PA 63s in the Makarov cartridge for sale pretty cheap. Anyone have any input on these guns? Reliable? Safe? Accurate? Thanks!

I purchased one of these a few years back from Century Arms and keep it around the house as a supliment to my other home defence firearms.
They are actually not bad looking guns if you like the two-toned look. The bare alloy frame is nicely finished and the blueing on the slide is nicely done and there are no tool marks. For the price the gun looks pretty good. The safety is slide mounted and drops the hammer when applied. I have small hands so the safety lever fits my thumb rather well.
The sights are about what you can expect on any pistol this size, pretty basic. The sights are small and since both the front and rear are blued, fast target aquesition is difficult. The pistol really needs a white dot on the front sight, but there is not much there to work with. There would be just enough space on the rear for two dots.
The single action trigger pull is not too bad. It has some creep, but breaks well enough. The double action pull is so heavy that I can hardly even pull the trigger! There is no way to aim the pistol and fire it double action as I'm straining too much. I may have gotten a bad one, you might try a few and see if they have lighter DA pulls.
One other item which needs to be addressed is the semi thumbrest on the left grip. This was added so that the pistol could earn enough points to be imported. I find it awkward, but it is not nearly as large as I've seen on other imported pistols. Accuracy was good enough at household ranges- but not spectacular. I've used all types of surplus Makorov ammo and it all worked fine. I've never tried soft point so I can't help you there. All and all I was pleased enough with the pistol to have kept it and I usually sell off anything I don't care for. Feel free to e-mail me if you have a specific question about the PA-63.

I got one that was rather bottom of the barrel. I had trouble to say the least, but have finally sorted it out. I am not going to go into all that here, but suffice to say that they are nice accurate pistols.

I can only relay info. found by Gun Tests Mag.. As Mark noted, a horrible double-action pull to the point of affecting accuracy. Sharp edges on mag lips, slide and finger rest that actually hurt the hand. And as Mark stated a left side tang that is also uncomfortable. They tested 3 types of ammo and had trouble with all 3. Light firing pin strikes that failed to ignite with Fed. Am. Eagle and Norinco FMJ. With Barnaul HP they could only get 3 rd. in the mag. and then they would stick during firing. A stiff decocker that at times stuck at a false point that neither decocks the gun nor stops the hammer. Definitely not reliable, nor fun as a plinker. That was their opinion.

I gave one to my youngest son a while back. To date thare has been no problems and the accuracy and reliablity has been good. Must be the way the back strap fits my hand cause it sure makes the little Mak recoil "fee" substantial.

I like mine. They are a Walther PPK look alike. I am going to J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ., they are an importer, and see if I can buy one that has been converted to .380 Auto.
