Just a few points. The 39 specs are; 123gr, .311dia. The 30-06 is a 308 dia. and if heavier and or longer than the 39 bullet, will have to be set deeper in the case and, if so, used with a reduced powder chg. I wouldn't go heavier than 125gr, check the OAL and check the differences between the lengths of the bullets. I would say it could work, but the dia. will be undersized, which will affect accuracy.

I'm no expert on reloading but I can tell you that the bullet diameters are different. The 7.62X39 uses a .311 diameter bullet while the .30-06 is .308 diameter. There is also a difference in bullet weight: The 7.62X39 is loaded with a 123gr. bullet while the 30.06 Tracer, M1 uses a 150gr. bullet. The .30-06 AP M2 uses a 166gr. bullet. Will these work? Perhaps. Would I risk it? NO! When you do these type of experiments you are basically being your own balistic engineer. If you follow the reloading guidelines written in books by paid professionals you are not in much danger. When you go off to be your own expert you can get into serious trouble. This is only my opinion and others may know more and can give better advice.

Wolf Ammo,is now being mfg.in 154 gr. Soft Point. If you are going to use the pulled bullets from the 30/06 I would reduce the amount of powder and unless you are a Handloader I would not attempt this. The Lee Handloading Manual has loads for the 150 gr. jacketed bullet for the 7.62X39.You may find little difference in accuracy between .308 dia. bullets and the regular .311 dia. bullets.Depending on the gun.I have been loading 150 gr. bullets in 7.62X39 cal. for a few years now.

Yes,i would pull the bullets and dump the powder from Wolf 7.62x39 cases then use 4895 and 145g tracers.

My 7.62x39 shoots 150 Sierra .311 handloads with no problem at all. I've tried and tried to work up a 125 Nosler .308 ballistic tip load that would shoot as well, but I just can't overcome that little 0.003" difference. It opens up 100 yard groups from 1.6" with .311s to 2.5" with .308s.

If you can't find load info anywhere else e me at LRH270@aol.com
